AM RADIO
Self-Titled EP

Straight out of Brooklyn via Upstate New York, New Jersey, and Delaware comes AM Radio. Formed in the wilderness years of the late ‘90s, AM Radio combed through their influences of ‘60s experimental sounds and ‘80s indie rock verve to create a new vibe for the new century. This four piece challenges the traditional notion of finding a specific sound and sticking with it - choosing instead to mine different inspirations without letting any one of them over take the band’s vision.

The five songs on their self-titled debut E.P. were recorded and originally self released by the band in 1999. The music demonstrates the care taken to avoid overwhelming the listener with their aural arsenal. The EP provides a taste of their noise/pop rock sensibility (especially on the final track ‘Beezwax’, their eighteen-minute long day’s journey into night). It was this sound that got the attention of Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, who produced their first full-length album, No Handle.

In early 2003 AM Radio was forced to change thier band name to Icewater Scandal.
