As you step down you begin to feel a rhythmic pulsation take over your feet the closer you get to the bottom. Through the velvet curtain and you are in a plush den; your eyes are overwhelmed with the lightshow and your ears are taken in by the swinging sound coming from a group of musicians in the back of the room. Welcome to the world of Artanker Convoy. This sextet combines a range of musical influences to create an infectious sound groove, which is as pleasing rhythmically as it is sonically intriguing. The material on this record stems from endless test sessions conducted at a house deep in heart of Sweathog territory, Brooklyn, NY, where even intrigued passersbys on the street would often try to poke in their curiously bobbing heads The Convoy takes the kernal of a musical thought and infuse it with their own personal vigor. Then the combo mentality takes over and the piece blossoms into a soundscape that they continue to prune and tend for its entire lifetime. Within their thinking is how they can combine the music with other forms of artistic endevors wether it be for people to dance through their work or merging with a visual construction in which both works breath deeper. Mature Fantasy is a culmination of their efforts: an LP that can be enjoyed in any situation.
